Facilities, shower, toilets, kitchen are all great and modern. Central location. Close to the train station and the main street of Gdansk. Room very basic, no curtains which is a pain. Overall great place to stay to save pennies
The hostel is right at the beginning of the Golden Gate so it is convenient to promenade and dine at the old town any time. The staff is accommodating and speaks English very well. The bedrooms, bathrooms, and kitchen and common room are clean and cozy. Plus, wifi is fast.
We stayed at this hostel for just one night, and it was a good experience overall. It's located in the old stables, so the architecture is pretty interesting. The location is great because its really close to the main square. The room was basic but clean and warm, big comfortable bed. The bathroom was really tidy and clean, the kitchen area was cozy and lovely too.
It'd be nice to have a tv in the common room and the coffee machine in the corridor was out of order but other than that, i cant think of any other flaws. Great value for money, i'd definitely stay again.
We stayed in Deluxe Family Apartment for four nights.
The apartment is great. Newly renovated and very spacious. Location is perfect. It is next to the tram stop and close to main street. Just few steps away from all the restaurants, cafes and pubs. The quality-price ratio is great. (especially after they finish the renovations....)Customer service was non-existent. Receptionist just showed us our apartment and gave us the key but that's all about it. Everything we wanted to know we had to ask for it since nothing were told during the "check in". The receptionist didn't even know where is the nearest supermarket which was a bit hilarious to us.The worst part was that we weren't informed that they were doing renovations just behind our door. We were woken up 8:30 every morning by very loud construction workers. Mainly talking not working.... This is just something you would have to inform your guests at least when checked in. The walls and the door are thin as paper so you could hear everything. Only minus in the apartment itself is that you would have to wait several minutes for the water to get hot.

Staff were respectful helpful and spoke impeccable EnglishThey also did not come into our rooms at all,so everything was safe and left as we left it
The reception and hostel was 24hours and was helpful of city guides/information Showers were brand spanking new and again squeaky clean as if never been used! These were communal but spacious because it was decided between men and women (it was more powerful than our shower at home lol)
I booked a double private, shared bathroom, as solo. The room was basic but excellent. The staff was very accommodating. The staff was able to help and guide me concerning trains and trams to Oliwa and Sopot and also early AM local bus transport to the airport. The property was clean and well maintained. This is not a party hostel, this is a traveler hostel, it is quiet at night and the guests are respectful. I am very happy with my stay at Hostel Universus! I would stay again without a question!
Very cool hostel. Very quiet, neat, Easy to find from the train station. Perfect location- within 2 minutes of the main square. The building looks lovely from the outside but a little dingy inside. Opposite my room in the corridor was a group of men in what I guess was a 6 or 8 bed dorm.
If your planning a quick visit to Gdansk, I recommend two nights only and forget Malbork - big waste of time. This hostel in the heart of the old city is cheap and comfortable. The bathrooms could do with a update however.
